Trading Rules & Limits

Trading Hours

Market Hours

Trading occurs during regular US futures market hours (Sunday-Friday, 6:00 PM - 5:00 PM CT)

Holiday Closures

Markets closed on US Federal holidays; trading resumes on the next session

Account Management

Starting Balance

Each entry receives the competition starting balance (typically $5,000-$50,000 simulated capital)

Maximum Loss Limit

Accounts are "blown" (stopped out) if losses exceed the max loss limit set for the competition

Daily Loss Limit

Some competitions enforce daily loss limits; exceeding these prevents opening new positions until the next trading day

Account Resets

Traders may reset blown accounts up to 3 times during Week 1 only; resets incur a fee

Trading Rules

Allowed Symbols

Only specified futures symbols are permitted (e.g., ES, NQ, YM, CL, GC, ZB). Check each competition for approved instruments

Maximum Contracts

Limit on open positions at any time (typically 10 contracts maximum per account)

Manual Trading Only

All trades must be manual; automated systems, bots, and algorithms are strictly prohibited

Futures Only

Only futures trading is permitted; options, forex, and crypto are not allowed

Compliance & Violations

Wash Trading Prohibited

Buying and selling the same instrument to create false activity or artificial volume is strictly forbidden

Spoofing Prohibited

Placing orders with the intent to cancel them to manipulate prices is not tolerated

Layering Prohibited

Multiple orders at different price levels with the intent to move prices is forbidden

Account Disqualification

Rule violations result in account disqualification and forfeiture of any winnings

Risk Disclosure

Futures trading involves substantial risk and is not suitable for all investors. You may lose more than your initial investment. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Simulated accounts do not reflect the stress of actual trading and may underestimate risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Entry fees vary by competition, typically ranging from $25 to $250. The fee grants you access to a simulated trading account with starting capital and the ability to compete for the prize pool.
